Motovun bell tower - Romanesque Gothic bell tower with a serrated crown (Gibelin crown) that dominates the landscape of the Mirna river valley is 27 meters high, and was built in the 13th century as the main tower and observation tower. In case of danger, the guards whose crew was constantly in the bell tower sent messages to the surrounding castles by the light of the fire, which they lit on the platform at the top of the bell tower. During the day, they used smoke for the same purpose. The bell tower is the only remaining of the former five towers, which are shown on the oldest, but also on today's coat of arms of Motovun.
