Natural & outdoor sights
What makes this area special are its biological diversity, rich plant life and special microclimatic characteristics. Natural processes that took place over many years provided habitats for many plant and animal species. The area is abundant with spring waters. The exceptional microclimatic conditions, which are greatly influenced by the river Mirna and the types of trees, have resulted in Motovun forest being the largest unique habitat of the precious white truffle (Tuber Magnatum Pico) in the world. In addition, the excellent microclimatic conditions favor the cultivation of vines and fruit species, so wine and fruit growing are the backbone of local agricultural production. The Motovun hill is 277 meters above sea level. From its top, exceptional vistas open up, giving extraordinary importance to the Istrian natural landscape. The beautiful landscape and natural wealth create ideal conditions for engaging in outdoor activities, which is why there are beautiful cycling and hiking trails in this area, the most famous of which is Parenzana - the Trail of Health and Friendship.
